but not always. It seems it may be somewhat weather dependant. When
it's hot it's usually bad. Also, often it doesn't smoke at all. I've cleaned the PCV tube and valve but still get smoke sometimes, it's bluish. Are my rings worn? I understand that if the rings are worn there's little to nothing one can do about it. Does a heavier oil help? |

If the PCV system is clear, then almost certainly the oil control rings are worn. Eventually the oil burning will be consistent. The rings have worn to the point that they've relaxed their hold on the cylinder wall. > > Does a heavier oil help? > A 20W-50 *might* help a little.
