Care to list what the garage said what was wrtong and what they were going
to do to fix it?

$220 could bea bargain or it could be a ripoff. Nobody knows unless they
know what's included in the price.

so, it's about time. as tegger says, it depends what they have in mind.
dealers have a habit of bait & switch - price sounds affordable, but
depends what they "find" later. if they only change the pads, it's a
rip. pads are ~$40 if you do it yourself. if they take the
"opportunity" to skim the disks, then put the wheels back on wrong,
you'll be back within the month complaining of brake judder, and you'll
be in the hole for /new/ disks & /more/ new pads before you know it.

bottom line, if the disks are not scored, and if you have had oem pads,
they're probably not, so you /don't/ need [as in shouldn't allow] the
disks [to be] skimmed. in that case, $220 for pads is expensive.

know any good independent honda shops in your area? ask them about
their disk skimming policies as a qualifier.

Asking if a dealer or repair shop automatically turns rotors is a very
good qualifier. If there is no brake "judder" or shudder - turning is
not necessary. Find some competent and not crooked independent shop -
dealer wanted $650 to replace a radiator - would have done it myself
but did not have time - got a local guy to do it for half that.

IMHO dealers are reserved for warranty work only-also I always inspect
my outer CV joint boots for cuts/tears before letting anyone touch my
honda - I tell the people either changing tires or what ever I have
inspected the CV boots - was a fav scam of a dealer where i used to
live cutting boots in cars with over 75K on them - that is a pricey
repair.

I can change my pads in less than 1 hour - really easy and takes less
time than going to even my local repair guy - buy my parts either on
line or autozone/wal mart. no problems.

Got 188K on this accord - previous 2 are still going with well over
300k on them.
