Hi. I am yet to find an authentic answer to this one. I'll appreciate
if someone can tell me for sure about this: Does the Honda Civic Ex 2000 come with a "Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent system" embedded in a chip in the key. Is that true? If so, is it really an effective security device? How easy would it be for someone to brake the system? If it is not easy, I'll be glad that my car has it. ![]() Thanks. |

Is that true? http://automobiles.honda.com says yes. Do you have a little blinking icon of a key on the instrument panel when you first turn the key on or off? -- --- Clarence A Dold - Hidden Valley (Lake County) CA USA 38.8,-122.5 |

No the imobilizer system started in the Civic model in 2001. The imobi
break down is: 97 Prelude Type I 98 Accord Type II ; 03 Type III 01 Civic Type II 02 CR-v Type II 99 Odyssey Type II, 05 Type III 03 Pilot Type II 06 Ridgeline Type III Type I uses a RED programming key Type III is a rolling code chip none of the Types can interchange. A clone key can be made for Type I and Type II systems only. Kenny wrote: > Hi. I am yet to find an authentic answer to this one. And the confusion continues. Yesterday, I visited <http://automobiles.honda.com/certified/specifications_full_specs.asp?ModelName=Civic+Seda n&ModelYear=2000> Which listed the Immobilizer. Today, that's a 404 error, even though I'm trying to get there from a "search" on the main site. <http://automobiles.honda.com/certified/specifications.asp?ModelName=Civic+Sedan&ModelYear =2000> Is a less complete listing, and shows "Ignition System: Electronic", where the same page for 2001 shows "Ignition System: Electronic with Immobilzer". My 2005 has the key icon on the instrument panel, which flashes for a few seconds when I turn the car off. -- --- Clarence A Dold - Hidden Valley (Lake County) CA USA 38.8,-122.5 |

Simply put any Honda that has green KEY icon in the gauge assembly display = a Honda with the imobilizer
system. dold@XReXXImmob.usenet.us.com wrote: > Kenny <aseem.mal@gmail.com> wrote: > > Hi. I am yet to find an authentic answer to this one.
