My '90 Civic LX driveability seems to be degrading. Under light throttle,
it surges and hesitates slightly. It has always done this to some degree but it seems worse now that it has 102K miles on it. It runs fine under acceleration and idles good. I've recently replaced the plug wires, rotor and cap and the O2 sensor is fairly new. Spark plugs are in good shape. I really notice it after I've driven another car for a while. Any suggestions as to what to check to smooth things out? Thanks, Ray |

Try running some Chevron gas through it.
And the Chevron FI cleaner is very good. Slightly dirty FIs can cause that problem. Some of the other FI cleaners can do a good job, but Techron?, Chevrons brand, always does a good job cleaning the FIs. It may take more then one tank of Chevron gas, and one run of FI cleaner. Terry |

Change the fuel filter.

Change the fuel filter. --------------------------------------- I have seen fuel filters clog and stop an engine from starting, or accelerating, or runing at high RPM, but I haven't seen one cause slight miss/hesitation/stumble. It is good practice to change one by the maintinance schedule, but I suspect he will find changing the fuel filter won't help. Terry |

Now I'm using Arco. I'll give Chevron gas a try again, and maybe the Techron too. Thanks for the suggestion. Ray |

Changed it and the stumbling at low RPM's stopped. With the stuff he's done already, I'd spend the 5 bucks and give it a try before paying for FI servicing/replacing. Sounds like a fuel problem anyway. |
