Default Horns: How loud?

Anybody have any idea how loud (decibels @ one meter, or some known
distance) the OEM horns are for any year of Accord? I have an '05 and
it's one of the specs no one seems to have readily at hand.

Just a suggestion if you haven't found an answer yet- I think you can
get a cheap multimeter at RadioShack for 20-30 bucks that reads dB's,
go to a dealer, blow some horns, then return it!

Charles has more integrity than to even think of doing that.

Well I can say the horns on the new Hondas are very loud compared to the
older Hondas. . I am not sure if there is one or two though. I do have a
radio shack digital decibel meter and if I get a chance to record the sound
from my 2004 Accord I will and then post it. Of course I also have to find
the meter. The horns sold at the local parts stores go from about 112 -132
decibels.

OK, so my lack of integrity thought of it, but he could still use my
idea! :-P

It never occurred to me that Radio Shack would sell SOUND meters, but
in fact they do. The cheaper analog model was out of stock on the web
site and on store shelves, but another with digital readout shows
availability.

I think I'll get one and keep it, as I suspect it could come in handy
in the future anyways (noise ordinances and such).

My '05 horns don't sound wimpy! I think I saw the "Bosch" name on
them, but never found mention of them on the web ...

Great!

Sound readings are generally posted as decibels measured from a
certain distance from the source. (I've seen one meter and four
inches as two common distances).

I'm guessing they also assume readings at sea level, as sound volume
(pressure) varies with altitude, eventually falling off to nothing in
the vacuum of space.

Guess that's why they never put a horn on the space shuttle ...
