2000 Honda Accord EX, 5Spd: When I asked the service person, when
should I change my Fuel Filter, she said never. I looked in the owner's manual and I could not find any schedule for Fuel Filter. Just wondering, how did Honda get rid off Fuel Filter? Also she said the my Spark Plugs are good until 105,000 miles?? |

I don't think they got rid of the fuel filter, they just don't suggest replacing it on a regular basis anymore. Same thing happened to wheel bearings. In the good old days, wheel bearings had to be repacked at every service, now they aren't on the service schedule at all. > Also she said the my Spark Plugs are good until 105,000 miles?? Quite common these days. -- ================================================== ===== A very modest collection of Honda tech info can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/ng_randolph |

Honda has moved the fuel filter to the pump in the tank and is not
recommended to replace it. If you insist, an independent mechanic can install a new one, but it's going to be more expensive if the filter is near the tank. > Also she said the my Spark Plugs are good until 105,000 miles?? Yep. Iridium or platinum plugs. They really can last 105K miles. They're awfully expensive too. However - if I could reach them, I'd check the plugs for condition and gap size every 15-30K miles. Removing them periodically should reduce the chance that the threads seize, but a V6 can be really hard to reach the back plugs. On an inline engine it's a breeze to reach. |
