Hi,
I'm the original owner of a 2000 Honda Accord EX, 4 cylinder, manual transmission, 99K miles, no accidents. My car has stalled while driving it about 10 times over the 5 years I've owned it. It usually happens at speeds < 40mph, and when it occurs, all of my dashboard lights come on and I lose power steering... and of course, the engine stalls. Up until now I've ignored it but since my warranty is up, I took it in for diagnostics and they found nothing wrong. I came across this recall from Honda, but they say my VIN is not attached to it: http://automobiles.honda.com/info/ne...=2002052353859 Any thoughts? Thanks, Brian |

Your problem could be caused by a bad ignition switch, among other
things so the recall _may_ fix your problem. It suggests that 'certain' cars will be eligible for this recall -- that is based on their vin number, then? Perhaps try another dealer -- call them and see what they say. Maybe this dealer doesn't want to bother with it. Remco |

They were probably changing several per day during the peak of the recall. . . 'Curly' |

Anyhow, if your car isn't covered, contact Honda and sweet-talk them, since you've had 'life-threatening' problems with your switch. They will help you. 'Curly' |

When they cause a stall, usually the dash goes dark (at least that's what it did on mine). |

That is what the dealship told me... since the lights came on, it's not the
ignition switch. "E. I did have the 90k service done a few months back, and that is one of the
major scheduled maintenance routines. But this has been a problem since inception. "terry25" <jpas563300@aol.com> wrote in message news:8e90d262e6bf5efcc42553b72d4500aa@localhost.ta lkaboutautos.com... > had a complete tune up could be fuel pump? > |

Well, that entirely depends on what contact goes bad:
if the common goes bad, absolutely nothing will work. If the 'start' connection goes bad, most other things will work except the connection to the starter, etc. |
