Default Prelude ALB

I have a 1991 prelude with the ALB brake system. The electric motor
that pumps up pressure keeps coming on every 5 to 10 minutes and
sounds like a bunch of squirrels under the hood. I have been told that
that is a sign of the pump going ant that a complete unit is $1700.
The car is in great shape with a rebuilt engine but that's a lot of
money! I have called a few aftermarket auto repair but no one except
Honda wants to look at this problem.
I have wondered about taking the system out. I have tried removing
the 3 fuses for the ALB. My brakes seem to be unaffected except no ABS
and best of all no squirrels under the hood. The dash light did come
on so if I was willing to live without the ABS brakes how difficult
would it be to remove the system or at least disconnect the ABS light
on the dash.
Any help is appreciated

Default Re: Prelude ALB

Actually, the pump cycling means the system is unable to maintain pressure -
the seals are shot. The main brakes are fully functional if the ALB goes
out. There is no need to remove the system. Just pull the fuse (as you
already have) and put a piece of tape over the light if it bothers you (or
remove the bulb).
