Default Remote unlocking/locking 2000 Odyssey LX

After having my remote lock/unlock (aftermarket) not work with my
Odyssey LX, I did some digging on google groups and found that I can
program the remote fobs by doing the following:

1. Put key in ignition

2. Turn key on

3. Press a lock or unlock button on the fob

4. Turn ignition off

5. Repeat 2-4 above a second time, then a third time

By doing this, I managed to get it so that the LOCK button of my remote
will toggle the door locks on and off (press LOCK button, doors lock;
press again, doors unlock; press again, doors lock; and so on). The
UNLOCK button of the remote does nothing.

Both of my fobs now work this way. Better than not working at all, but
not what I want.

I tried the above sequence probably 10 times total with both remote
fobs. What am I supposed to do now to get the LOCK button to lock the
doors and nothing else, and the unlock button to unlock doors and
nothing else?

What brand is the remote keyless entry system?

Did you by chance replace your car battery before the keyless entry
system started acting up?

Seems to me that the procedure you describe above is how the factory
installed EX system works. The LX system from Honda doesn't, as I
recall.

What I quoted there came from
http://www.handa-accessories.com/crv/KEYLESSPROG.pdf which is a web site
that sells aftermarket Honda parts. The LX doesn't come with remotes,
but aftermarket parts are made for it.

I can't say if this is true, but several web sites say that all Hondas
are made with a remote lock receiver unit, and that a programming
sequence exists in which you "train" the receiver to recognize the
remotes.

Fact is that our remotes worked great for four years, and through a
battery change six months ago; it's just now that they're acting funny.

Brand - don't know, wife is driving it right now.

Battery - interesting theory. The van did require a jump because the
lights had been left on several weeks ago. Wasn't the first time though
this had happened (wasn't the tenth time either, sigh), but the remotes
had never been affected before.

There is no manufacturer identified on the fobs. The fobs carry an FCC
ID of H50T06. If I google that, I come up with several references to a
company called Megatronix.

BUT:

1. The place where I got the remote system told me that they have never
sold Megatronix products or heard of the company.

2. I looked at several of the web sites that had fobs with that FCC ID
and none look close to the way mine do.

The place I bought the remote has offered to take a look at it for free
for me, which is fine, but I think it cost me something like maybe $120
total for the product four years ago, and in my mind it's not worth
their time.

The Honda dealer claims to have no idea what I'm talking about.

Neither the dealer nor the place where I got the remote claim to have
ever heard of this happening.
