Default Any tips for removing the oil filter in a 2001 Civic and not getting oil all over

We have a 2001 Civic. When I change the oil I jack up the front end,
and drain the oil from the pan. However, I guess since the car is
raised up some oil stays in filter and does not drain out. When I
remove the filter oil come pouring out. I have tried shoving rags
below the filter to catch the oil, and I have also tried to wrap a
plastic bag around the filter but both of those do not seem to work all
that well for catching the oil. So my question is, are there any tips
for removing the filter and catching the oil?

Thanks in advance!!!

The intake pipe needs time to drain. Leave the car for a half-hour (or even
an hour) before removing the filter.

I used to let the oil in my 98 civic drain overnight and I would have a drip
free oil change. Oil filter would be empty and nothing would drip out of
the filter mount. Though the K series enigine in my 02 Si/Sir always barfs
oil, whether drained overnight or not. Now I just observe the drip path and
wipe afterwards. Some people use rags or even a zip lock bag over the
filter.
