I have a 97 Civic EX that recently had to have the battery
replaced. Since the battery was replaced, it has been necessary to turn the AC on every time the engine is started. Beforehand, the AC would retain its setting between starts. I know this isn't a big issue, but it would be nice if I could figure out exactly why it's doing this. Also, the thought crossed my mind that other electrical components might be affected that I have not noticed yet. Does anyone have any ideas or pointers as to where I could try to find information on this? Thanks in advance. |

That is highly unusual. I did not actually drive the car much over
Christmas, and I just assumed the two were somehow related. I was almost certain that the AC used to stay set. Now, I'm kind of worried that my mind may be going, but thanks for the information. |

If battery power is lost, it has to be reprogrammed to do that trick. Apparently it's in the Owner's manual. It's one of those "hold this button, turn on key, turn that knob" kind of things. Same thing on the CR-V that makes the 'Recirc' come on when DEfrost is selected . . the 'default' program can be defeated by a few simple steps . . . If it's not in your manual, try google.com to find if there's something like a "civic-tinkerer.com" forum. 'Curly' |

If the air vents are set to defrost, the AC will automatically engage after
start-up. Pars "Jesse Murphy" <murphyjm@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1105764865.107285.50770@c13g2000cwb.googlegro ups.com... > That is highly unusual.
