I had once a 90 Acura Legend doing exactly the same thing. The dealer quoted me around $1500 to replace the pump. I got rid of the car....However, hard breaking on a dirty and empty road couple of times may help you..By doing this, it activates the ABS breaks and may free some stuck parts in the system. Just give it a try you wont lose anything. ahmet turkey |

Exact same symptom on my 90 Prelude. The dealer looked at it (my regular mechanic won't touch ABS). They said the accumulator is starting to fail. A $1200 estimate. I'm the original owner, but I'm not dropping $1200 into a car worth only about $2500 (pvt party) in KBB....especially since my a/c is also dead..... ![]() |

PS....
You asked about it as a do-it-yourself project. From what I've read there are some specialized tools required, and keep in mind the system is under high pressure, wrong tools, inexperience, and I can imagine you could really hurt yourself... |
