Sorry if this is the wrong group, but please give details of other groups
which may be able to help please.

A friend has a Honda J reg, and I believe it is an Accord.

After driving for some 3 miles or so, switching off the engine, and waiting
for about ten minutes, it will not start.

It turns over very well, but does not fire. If then left for some 10 minutes
or so it fires and drives very well.

this dose not happen on every journey, and there seams to be very few, if
any common factors.

Anyone with any ideas please?

First and most important diagnostic. When you turn the key on, before
turning the engine over, do you hear the fuel pump running? You should
hear it buzz back behind you near the gas tank.
