Hey all,

Just wanted to get your thoughts on the comparison of these 2
vehicles. I'm "between stages"...compacts are too small now and vans
are too big (plus, no kids yet!) so, what i was thinking of was a
larger (in terms of cargo space) sedan or a small SUV. without boring
you with details, I narrowed the list down to the CR-V and the M6
wagon. i like the styling of the wagon, but i like the safety and
versatility of the CR-V. has anybody had any experience with either
vehicle?

The Mazda has a V6 standard and while it hurts the fuel economy, it would be
my choice.

However, the M6 is a more family-oriented car IMO and a CR-V might be a
better fit to your lifestyle.

That V6 engine is made by Ford. Case closed!

The CR-V is a good choice, but don't overlook the Toyota RAV4.

Ford is the same carmaker that manufactures the 12000 NYC cabs that
routinely reach 300000 miles on the original powertrain. Not at the top of
their class for efficency, but we are far from the first serie of American
Escort.

Yeah, but you don't know how much $$$ these cab companies forked out to
keep their cabs running. It is cheaper for them to do that instead of
buying all new vehicles.

Except for gas, they are cheap to run. Low price parts, very resistant
powertrain, suspension & steering components. Important reason why the
Crown Vic are so used for fleets in North America.

The CR-V is a good choice but to me it is boring. No power. I have driven
the '04 Mazda 6 V6 sedan and the '04 CR-V. The 6 will bring a smile to your
face as it has plenty of power, but you are paying for a lot more vehicle.
Plus you are also comparing vehicles that are not comparable, one is a
mini-SUV while the other one is a wagon.

(I am not a ford guy) but I really liked the V6 Ford Escape. plenty of
power and fun to drive.

Don't get a vehicle because it is practical, get one because you can't wait
to drive it hard and feel performance/handling. If you want cargo space, go
find yourself an old $500 pickup

Something you may want to look into is if the SUV's and cars have to meet
the same crash tests standards. At one point trucks didn't have to meet the
same standards as cars.

Also, the car will handle a LOT better than any SUV (mini or not) but a lot
of people with poor eye sight claim they can see better in an SUV.

Hello,
I don't really know much about the Mazda (it looks nice)but I do know
about the CRV. Mine is a 2002 EX with about 33,200 miles. I am
very pleased with my purchase still and if I had to do it all over again I
would. I haul my wife and my small son around and it hasn't
let us down yet. I live in Central Illinois and I haven't had a snow
yet the 4X4 hasn't got me where I needed to go. I have never been in
a situation where I felt I didn't have enough power.
Over all I think you get plenty of good vehicle for your money. This
is my 4th Honda so I am a little biased I beleive but there are plenty of
name plates out there which I would buy.

I believe you are not comapring apples to apples with the Mazda 6 wagon
and the CRV.

The CR-V will be safer with the help of VSA (ESP) now available for '05.
This and the fact that it stands higher.
