I have a 1990 Accord and it makes a clicking sound when I make a sharp
turn while pressing on the gas peddle. What's the difference between having the cv joint or joints repaced and having the cv axle or axles replaced? Is there an advantage to having the cv axle or axles repaced and is there much of a cost difference? |

The general thought for do it yourselfers is to just replace the
entire axle, due to the balance between extra cost and the work involved. I have seen many people advocating replacing the entire axle even if the rubber boot is torn on the CV joint. I don't know how it shakes out if a dealer is doing the work, maybe they are able to just do the cv joint very quickly J786@webtv.net wrote in message news:<20806-41A6C33F-870@storefull-3277.bay.webtv.net>... > I have a 1990 Accord and it makes a clicking sound when I make a sharp > turn while pressing on the gas peddle. << I have seen many people advocating replacing the entire axle even if the

In my case, being a world-class procrastinator, I let it go too long and then the creaking sounds started. I replaced the entire axles. It's worth the peace of mind. Next time I'll keep a closer eye on things. |

I guess it'd depend on the amound of wear on the axle, from lack of grease.
