There's an additional rubber boot that covers the boot end of the slave
cylinder and attaches into the tranny housing. Since that isn't particularly supple any longer I'd like to replace it while I'm replacing the slave cylinder. I'm pretty sure it's the "release fork boot" marked item #7 in the MT Clutch Release section at slhondaparts: http://www.slhondaparts.com/browse.a...ViewParts=true Right? Also, does it simply pull out of and push back into the tranny housing, held in by a raised lip (kinda looks that way), or is there some sort of attachment I'll have to release and replace? I don't want to start pulling on it before I know better, given that it's tucked behind the radiator and I can't get a good look at it easily. One more: does a new bleeder screw and cap come along with the slave cylinder, or must it be purchased separately? From the fact that the box marked item #9 in the diagrams encloses these items, I'd like to think they're included. Can anyone confirm? Thanks. |

#7 is correct for the boot. Just BE CAREFUL removing it!!!!!!!! If you knock
loose the clutch arm off the pivot ball, you'll have to drop the tranny to put it back in place. Never had to buy a slave cylinder, mine still fine @ 11-12 years and 200,000 miles. I "assume" that the new one would come with a bleeder, cap is a maybe. Email if needed, I'm the 92-95 D tranny guru. I checked with slhonda and the bleeder screw/cap does indeed come with the slave cylinder. Thanks for the warning about the clutch arm: it would absolutely suck to have to drop the tranny to get it back on. I'll probably replace the slave cylinder first, then replace the boot once the slave is holding the arm firmly in place once again. Hope that release fork set spring keeps doing its job. |
