1994 Integra 222,000 miles....

Told I have excessive "play" in rear trailing arm bushings..
The whole arm is $280.00 each

Can the bushings "only" be replaced or must I do the Whole arm??

Any Suggestions would be helpful as I do not want to spend 280 +280 + labor on
a car with 222,000!!!!

dunno. id ask a dealer if they carry the bushings alone. if so, a
machine shop should be able to press out the old and put in the new.

used trailing arms from a car thats been hit head on with low mileage?

if you jack the car up, can you feel "wiggle" in the bushings? do they
look rotted?

my only experience with bushings was on the front end of an 81 rabbit
convertible. probably didnt "need" them, but i was bored and wanted to
do the struts anyway. new struts, strut bearings, uprgrade to 14" wheels
with 185/60 yokohamas and those kewl poly bushings.

car handled beautifully afterwards, but sounded like i had a styrofoam
cooler rubbing the seat whenever i went over a bump.

HAP Recyling in Rancho Cordova, CA has the entire arm for about 1/2
that.. If you have access to a 3/8" Impact Ratchet, its easily a
pretty quick swap on your own.

it's a common issue. allegedly, the bushings are available, but i
confess i've been unable to find them. alternatively, you can get the
mugen honda bushings from king motorsports. they're natural rubber like
oem, so they don't squeak. the down side is they're slightly harder so
the ride is a little more bumpy. the up side is that the car will
corner /much/ better afterwards!

once you have the arms off, it's a simple matter for a machine shop to
press the old ones out and the new ones in - i've had it done a number
of times.

I WILL TRY THESE AVENUES and with 222,000 I will easily accept a "harder"
ride!!!

Most of the other bushings are catalogued, so they would show up in the
online parts sites. The trailing arm busing is a service bulletin item...
so it isn't catalogued like normal.
