Hi,
I own a 2004 CR-V EX. While pricing options, I considered the "factory installed"(dealer)foglights, but was put off by the almost $700 price tag. I have seen the same Honda foglights on Honda parts websites for about $260. My question is: How difficult is it for a mechanically inclined person to install these lights? I know that I would have to cut out the knockouts where the lights go, but what about the rest of the installation? How much of the dash needs to come off and is the wiring simply a matter of hooking up preexisting wiring harnessess? Thanks, Neal |

It took a trained mechanic at the dealership over three hours to install them. Of course, the price quoted was $350, so..... My advice: if you're asking for advice here, it is probably a job better left to someone else. If you really are inclined to do it, then I would order the lights, look at the installation instructions that come with them once they arrive, and see if you still feel comfortable about it. IF you do, great! If not, you're at the right place to schedule an appointment. And, I don't know about your local dealership, but ours refuses to repair third party parts that break. They will replace them with genuine Honda parts, but they will not repair them....A college gal I was sitting in the waiting room with brought in her Accord because the windshield wipers were going in odd directions at odd times. The service desk people told her that the mechanic told them the problem was the aftermarket wipers, and that replacing them would solve the problem. The price: about $80 installed. If I would have heard that, I would have laughed all the way to the Auto Zone, but it was her money..... YMMV, AL |

The only hard part is getting the wiring thru the firewall, the directions have you putting thru the center of the firewall, and I find that more difficult than it has to be. I actually put in an aftermarket pair for fraction of the cost, and drilled a hole right near the brake master cylinder, if you look there, it already has a punch hole for something. Hope that helps.
