2001 Civic LX, 30,000 mi (yep, 30k), orig Firestone tires, rotated once. The left front shows uniform tread wear on inboard side ; right front same thing but less noticeable. Is this just a matter of losing alignment, or is there something else I should be concerned about? HaroldWho -- Powered by SuSE Linux 9.0 -- Kernel 2.6.7 News Reader slrn 0.9.7.3 |

Sounds like "toe out." Toe is adjusted at the steering gear tie rods (tying the rack and pinion to the wheels to turn the wheels per the input from the steering wheel). Toe is one of the three alignment angles that is consistently available to adjust on all cars. (Whereas the other two main alignment angles, camber and caster, are likely not adjustable on your car.) For more info on toe etc., google for "toe camber caster alignment." There are nice many nice one page summaries of the effects on tire wear of each when not set correctly. Make sure your tires are maintained at the correct inflation pressure. Your car hasn't been over any bad bumps lately, has it? So as to bend suspension parts that affect alignment? |

Exactly. The thing he should be concerned about is getting rid of those Firestones and mounting some decent rubber in their place. JMO. |
