I think I'm hearing my fuel pump cycle after I've turned the car off.
It's in the gas tank area and it's a whirrrrr, pause, whirrrrr, pause. The pause is about 5 seconds and the whirrr is about 2 or 3 seconds. The car is an Infiniti G20T, and apologies for asking here, but I'm used to this group and its feedback is so good. Is this a problem to worry about? I've not experienced any kind of trouble related to this sound, but it's not a noise I've heard from another vehicle before and I'm curious what's happening. And if it is in fact the fuel pump I'm hearing, why does it keep cycling after the engine is shut down? TIA. |

Well, I'm an a/c freak and use the auto climate function so mine's been on as well. Wild. Wacky. Do you think it's sucking battery power when it's whirring? I haven't sat there and listened to how many times it cycles, but it's definitely doing it more than once or twice. |

Someone needs a file for noises and the way they should appear in type. >i think its something to do with the AC >powering down. maybe relieving >pressure? >try driving with no AC for a while, then >listen for the sound when you shut the >car off. mines DEFINATELY AC related. It's finally getting cool enough out here (we're up in SClarita where it's hotter than you) so I can experiment without using the a/c. I'm not even sure the noise I'm hearing cycles every time the car is shut off, but thought I'd throw the question out to see if it's a common problem. Tanks for giving me the feedback, Mike! |
