Tried alt.autos.honda, no luck. Anyone have any ideas here?
Thanks 91 Accord 4 cyl AT, 200K Cars runs great, looks pretty good, transmission slips in lower gears when accelerating from stop or downshifting. It stays in the slipping mode but we found that placing the shift lever in neutral, turning the key to the Off position, restarting and shifting back to D allows the shift to occur. Any thoughts appreciated. Bill W |

It stays in the slipping mode but we found that placing the shift lever in neutral, turning the key to the Off position, restarting and shifting back to D allows the shift to occur. I don't know the details of the Accord transmission but you might measure the resistance of each of the control solenoids, especially if the problem is more pronounced when the transmission is warm. I had a similar problem on my 1988 Prelude. It has two shift solenoids and two lock-up solenoids. Check your service manual. You can probably open up a connector near the transmission or at the control module to make the readings. On my car 20 to 30 ohms is normal. I had some readings at 900 ohms! The solenoids get hot and often won't release when the computer tells them to. -- Chuck |
