Mine was caused by broken solder joints for the connector pins on the back of the radio. I don't recall the exact steps, but basically you remove the radio and disassemble sufficiently to get access to the circuit board behind the socket where the harness plugs into the radio. Look closely at the two rows of solder connections where the connector pins are attached to the circuit board. . .mine were visibly broken. It's probably best just to re-solder all of them. Good luck, let us know how it comes out! -Mark |

You can resolder, or spend $46 on a new one. My mechanic simply resoldered mine. It's buried deeply under the dash. They (accords) certainly do have that pesky main relay. My 90 accord
was doing the same thing. Thanks to all the nice folks that posted before, I was able to quickly diagnose and change mine a couple of weeks ago. Solved the problem. Yes, it is diabolically placed for maximum irritation when attempting to remove. What were they thinking!! Can't comment on the component repair, I replaced. Car needed to go off to college the next day and I didn't have time to trial and error the repair. Kept the old one may repair and restock for the next time one goes. Those that post diagnostic knowledge of this type on this board are doing a real service. This is one of those things that does not self diagnose through the ECU and it is intermittant in nature.
