I have a Honda Civic LX 2001 manual transmission.
About six months ago, I had to replace the front struts, but it was covered under the original 3 yr/36k mile warranty. The warranty will expire soon, so I got a letter to extend the warranty. 5 yr/75k mile, bumper-to-bumper, for $250 down payment and $200 x 12 monthly payments, for total of $2650. The payment can be extended over two years without interest. If I decide to sell the car in a year, I can either get prorated refund, or transfer the warranty and payments. Should I get the warranty, or should I risk it and save $2650? |

It sounds bloody expensive. I got Honda Plus when I
bought my car for $860 canadian. It extended the warranty to 7yrs/160000kms. I don't think I would trust other warranty companies, too many bad stories. Honda treated me well, but many people on this group also question the validity of extending the warranty. Its a crapshoot for sure, but think about how much shit you could fix on your car for $2600! t |

The cost to extend the warranty sounds way too expensive. If you went
for this you'd be nuts. Most likely you won't have repairs that will be anywhere near that even if you had to pay out of pocket for everything during the next 2 years. Even a timing belt change at 90k will set you back only $600 so that's probably about all to look forward to. It seems kind of odd that the struts would go this soon in a cars life but I wouldn't consider it as a norm for things to come in the future. Drive your Honda to the ground and take that warranty and put it in the trash. Hope this helps, Nick On Sat, 28 Aug 2004 11:54:10 -0400, "Arctic Inferno" <SpamShield-ArcticInferno@yahoo.com-SpamShield> wrote: >I have a Honda Civic LX 2001 manual transmission. >About six months ago, I had to replace the front struts, but it was covered >under the original 3 yr/36k mile warranty.
