Hi,
I drive a Honda certified 2001 Accord. I bought it frmo a dealer at 44K. I did some "heavy driving" (some 9K miles in the past 4 months) and the vehicle was due for 52.5K service. I gave my car for service in the morning and the service personnel called me just now and gave me a set of "recommendations". One of the supposedly most important one (they gve some 5 of them each > 100$) is the induction service. When I asked why they gave an explanation like "carbon is a rock...it scratches ur engine..blabla bla..." and I said yes..(I almostt heard the "screaching sound" that rock is makin on my engine ) now after reading couple of posts in this group andhearing the term "dealership scam" I called them again to say I dont waant that service to be done today (so that I can buy some more time..its 140$) .. but they say they already started it.. is it all worth it ? (150$ for service - incl oil change) + this 140$...big dent in my car budget for this month! :| -Raghu |

Look in your owners manual at the service schedule. I think you will find that the oil change is the only thing on it at that mileage, and that only if you are on the severe schedule. |

What they think is necessary is for them to make as much money off of you as possible. Open up your service manual and see what is recommended. Then ask them to do what is recommended, nothing more. Be careful of the dealers recommended ??mile package. It always included unecessary work that just costs you more than necessary. -------------- Alex |
