Default Exhaust Question - '91 Civic Si

Hello,

I have a 1991 Honda Civic Si and I need to replace the pipe between the
catalytic converter and the muffler. I bought a 1-piece Bosal pipe, #
286-531. I was comparing the old 2-piece pipe (manufactured by Merit) to
the new one, and I noticed that the triangular flange on the new pipe
where it meets the catalytic converter is orientated so that 1 bolt hole
is above the pipe and two are below. The flange on the old pipe was
orientated 180 degrees opposite, 2 bolt holes above the pipe and 1 below.

Does anyone know the OEM configuration of the flange? Would it hurt
things to flip the catalytic converter 180 degrees so that the flanges
will meet up for the new pipe? I bought the car used in 2003 with 120k
and am assuming the pipe from the exhaust manifold and the catalytic
converter are still original.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Mark
