Although I am not far away, I am not close enough to
inspect it and copy the VIN down for check by
Indiana DMV and other certification authorities quite so
easily. It would be too great an investment in time
only to find that this is not what it seems. VINs
are public record. I can copy any VIN in a mall parking
lot and find out about the car, not its owner.

So, without the VIN, I cannot proceed any further
even with cash in hand.
