Default 98 Accord, hesitation from cold start

have a 98 Accord that after the car sits for a day will stumble and
almost die when taking off from a stop. Runs ok otherwise. What could
this be? I have changed spark plugs and it did not help.

Can an 02 sensor cause this? I thought when it was cold it is in open
loop mode and this sensor had not effect on running?

I would check the following in this order:

Plug Wires
Fuel Filter
PCV Valve
Distributor Cap/Rotor

Is your Check Engine light on? You can also reprogram
your ECU buy disconnecting the battery (make sure you have
your antitheft radio code if appicable) for 10-20 minutes.
Then rehook it up. It may fix it, or it may be OK for a
while and go back, then you know you have a sensor prob'
somewhere.

Could be a lot of different things but assuming it really does run OK when
warmed up, start with the ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) sensor under the
distributor (two wires) and the EACV (Electronic Air Control valve) on the
throttle body... and the wiring harnesses and connections to each of them.

Our 99 Accord was doing something similar. Cleaned the build up in the
throttle body and all is well. It was causing the butterfly not to open up
properly. When warmed up the gunk was not as sticky freeing up the
butterfly.
