My daughter's (mine) Integra GSR VTEC timing belt broken while she
tried to drive the overheated car home. After I tore it down, the water pump was pretty much ceased up which caused the broken belt. After swapping the belt, I can tell that it's hurting on compression (belt valves/pistons). I'm pulling the head. Any ideas what kind of money to have these heads rebuilt? |

I think after pulling the car's head I would pull off the daughter's head
for driving the car home while overheated. Mine wanna just fine a whole GSR motor and swap it in, Like the main/rod
bearings were damaged. Expect to pay $3500-4000 for the motor, plus install fees of you have someone else do the labor. Yeah the sad part about it is, I taught the daughter to pay attention to
guages (not put pics of boyfriend in front of guage cluster)...and to shut the car off immediately if overheating, knocking....etc. When she pulled into the gas station to add coolant to the overheated engine, had she called me then I would still have a running vtec. She's the one without a car now...so I guess she'll learn. As far as the other, she paid her own insurance and as the car sits...she knows that if she wants it back, she has to pay the repairs plus the cost of the car. She was actually thinking that she could get it back for free (only pay for the repairs). Where do these teenagers get this stuff from? |

Yeah that's nuts not to do the WP while doing the belt. I'd never pay that kind of money for a repair. That's why I do it all myself. > > > > > > > >"unix-freak" <mandrakemaniac@yahoo.com> wrote in message > >news:6d7ec317.0408091827.17b7b165@posting.google. com... > >> My daughter's (mine) Integra GSR VTEC timing belt broken while she > >> tried to drive the overheated car home.
