I have a 98 Civic with 91,000km and a 98 Accord with 98,000km and wondered
when to change the timing belt and water pump. I have heard mixed responses from various mechanics - some say at 100K and some say wait until 120K. Any idea how much it should cost in Canadian $ to do the work? Does it cost more/less to do the Accord versus the Civic? Thanks |

Assuming that this also applies to both your Hondas, in terms of time, your Civic is about due while your Accord is past due. In terms of distance, some play it safe and get it done every 100,000km. But check your owner manuals to see what they say. I paid $360 Canadian to get the timing belt, water pump, seals and other belts replaced on my Accord 2 years ago at a private Honda mechanic. I heard somewhere that there is more labour involved to change the belt on an Accord than on a Civic. |
