Where is the so called main relay on 01 Honda Civic. Is this part
serviceable? Dealer tells me that the reason my Civic is slow to start in hot weather is this relay and contacts in it are coming apart from the heat under the hood. Car starts good when cold but lately it takes up to 10 seconds of cranking to start when hot, and hot means hot engine or just hot under the hood from sitting outside. Thank you all. |

One thing I noticed from the beginning on my 98 civic, is that
if the tank is less than 1/3 full, it takes a lot of extra cranks to get it started. If I wait until the fuel pump kicks off after turning the key to the on position, it starts normally, i guess when the tank is low, it takes the fuel pump more effort to get the fuel up to pressure? t |

You sure can tell when the hot summer weather is here. That's when all the main relay troubles show up! http://www3.telus.net/public/johning...html#MainRelay |

All of the previous posts I have seen about the main relay problem relate to early '90s models. Seems odd that this problem would re-surface on a recent model. you should read my posts -its about 10 under your post. I have a 93 del
sol and everyone said its the main relay or the ignition switch. my car runs fine 98% of the time but then wont start every once in a while. the main relay is $50 from the dealer but they charge $70 to put it in. I can let you know if it fixes my problem. |
