Default 98 Accord battery replacement

Will disconnecting the battery from this 98 Acorrd cause a problem
with the anti-theft device in the radio or anything?

==================

It doesn't cause a problem, it just causes your radio to stop working
until you re-enter the five digit CODE, which is on the plastic card
that came with your car, or it might be written, or stuck on a sticker
inside your owner's manual. Sometimes it's on a sticker inside the glove
box or you can call your dealer and it may be in their computer.

It's explained in the FINE manual.

Are you serious about leaving the car running while you disconnect
the battery? Letting the car run without a battery can damage
electronic parts.

I suggest you investigate one of the devices that apply power through
the cigarette lighter to keep the radio powered up continuously.

Is this only indicative of the (very) late Hondas? My wife's '97 Van has an
AM/FM/Casette that was talked about in the manual. We have a code plate
that was provided with it, and the little red light flashes when the car is
OFF, but I have disconnected the battery on numerous occasions while working
on the engine (etc) and never had to enter the code. --

This is because someone has decided that the radio is safe against
theft and has uninstalled the code number. If your radio's display
doesn't say -CODE- or something similar when it is powered up,
then it is running without. Read the FINE manual again.

It all depends on what trim level you have. If it is an EX, then
disconnecting the battery will cause you to have to input a code to
get it to work correctly. If not then you don't have to worry about
it.

yes i'm serious, on a honda the ELD drops alternator output when it
doesn't detect a load. we do it everyday. i have though pulled
batteries and installed them fast enough that i didn't lose the radio.
the capacitors take a bit to discharge.
if you use the lighter trick remember the key has to be on in a
newer honda or the socket is dead.
