reading the group archives, i see that changing the p.c.v. valve is
commonly recommended for hondas. well, i recently did this on my civic because it had a "flat spot" on acceleration and i'd fixed everything else that was possible. what an incredible difference! /much/ more power /much/ smoother automatic shifting no more flat spot thanks for the information everyone. it may also be worth noting that the valve that came off was relatively new, but a generic aftermarket version. the one i fitted was genuine honda. |

Mine Accord with 116k still rattles but I do clean it out with brake cleaner
on occasion. I don't really see the need to replace it if it is rattling. Thanks for posting your feedback on this part. There's been much
discussion about its place in the healthy operation of a vehicle and your experience is beneficial to the whole of the discussion. nospam@example.net (jim*beam) wrote: reading the group archives, i see that changing the p.c.v. valve is commonly recommended for hondas. well, i recently did this on my civic because it had a "flat spot" on acceleration and i'd fixed everything else that was possible. what an incredible difference! /much/ more power /much/ smoother automatic shifting no more flat spot thanks for the information everyone. it may also be worth noting that the valve that came off was relatively new, but a generic aftermarket version. the one i fitted was genuine honda. |

Rattling is not the only criteria for a pcv valve. The spring pressure
is important. With 160k miles, the spring is likely worn out and not at the same force it was when new. Spring(:-) ) for a new pcv, they are not that expensive.
