Default Civic Coupe/Automatic Gas Mileage

I'm curious what others get in around
town driving for this configuration car. Specific year is '99.

Also, if someone knows about how larger wheels and tires affect the
speedo/odo with regards to MPG, the car has 17" wheels with 205 45 17
tires. Thanks!

Driven more aggressively about 22 mpg......driven conservatively about 26
mpg.
Your tires are about 24.26 inches in diameter and the standard 185 65 14
tire is about 23.47 (see
http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobi...e_diameter.htm )
You'll see some speedometer differences as the speed will show slower than
you are actually travelling and the distances will be recording shorter than
actual....by a small percentage.

Driven aggressively, he's getting around 20. The tire diameter factored
in, his car is close to what you cite.

Good info. Thanks for responding!

1997 EX Coupe. Was getting 26.5 mpg mixed city/highway when I first
got it 2 months ago. Got an alignment done and switched to 89 octance
and start to get 28.5 mpg. Last tank, I got 29.8 mpg, probably because
I did a bit more highway than usual. I drive like a grandma and aim to
get 30 mpg.

I am thinking about switching back to 87 octane after a few more fill
up to see if the alignment was more of factor than the octane level.

Yeah, is that bad for an automatic? It's heck lot better than the Ford
Taurus company car I was driving. I was getting around 20 mpg.

No, 26 mpg is GOOD for an auto. Lucky you! (or, unlucky us for driving
behind you 'cause you're a granny driver!)

last reading I got 33.1 mpg averaging 80mph on the interstate
freeway........27.1 in city driving (last time I could check for
predominantly city driving 2 months ago).I drive mostly interstate
freeway and use the cruise control locked on 80mph whenever can.

Oh, I drive in the slow lane. I am considerate/Canadian, see. I
just let the SUV-loving, I-got-places-to-go, things-to-see,
people-to-do SoCal drivers race on ahead to the left of me. Then I
smile at them when I catch up with them at the next traffic light. I
mostly keep 2500 rpm.

Well, I finally hit 30.7 mpg when I filled up yesterday. Yeah! I
didn't even to do any highway driving last week. Aiming for 32 mpg
next. I am planning to clean the PCV valve and check valve clearance
to improve mileage. Anything else I can do?
