Greetings all;
There is a noise coming from seemingly inside the engine of my 2001 CR-V (87,000 kilometres, 52,200 miles). I have checked everything I can and nothings seems loose. It is not consistent and comes at various lower rpms (often when decelerating), but never yet at idle. It often sounds like a rattling exhaust manifold shield, but a bit less tinny. Perhaps it was just coincidence, but it started a few days ago on the first warm day we have had this year (above 25C). Possibly the timing belt? Thanks for your input. Bill |

Correction. It now occurs at idle at times as well.

You could remove the ABS fuse for a day or two to see if the noise goes away. Your brakes will still perform normally, just not as ABS brakes. The manual explains why / when you might hear the ABS make noises. If _the noise_ happens mostly when turning tight left turns, the viscosity of your rear differential fluid is SHOT. Replace it with Honda Dual Pump Fluid. 'Curly' _______________ |
