Default Honda's ownership records must be a mess!

I phoned American Honda Motor customer service with a question about one of
my Hondas. The young lady insisted my VIN belonged to a completely different
model, one I do not have. Next, I got a safety recall notice about yet a
different model and VIN, neither pertaining to me.

Both cars were bought new, and both were financed by Honda Finance, which
knows what I bought and has the correct VINs, even showing them at their web
site.

Not necessarily(i.e.,their records being a mess).
A more likely scenario is she is a new employee and/or cannot
read(interpret) VIN's properly. It takes a slight amount of skill to do
it right.I looked up my own VIN from an online database myself awhile
earlier, and had to some additional research to find out what the
symbology meant. Some of the info in a VIN is not automatically clear at
first blush.

Please read again.

Oh, well, here goes.

The employee was not called upon to construe or interpret anything, I'm
sure. Let alone spend the company's time it would take to look up the
meaning of a VIN in a legend. The employee enters (types) the VIN in a
program. The program then provides at least a basic description of the car.
Do you think otherwise?

And, by the way, just what part of a VIN, at face value, was the least bit
meaningful to you? As for me, I'd say none.

Acrimonious, you say? Yes, a bit, I suppose you're right about that at
least.
