It seems like every time I go out, I wind up seeing at least a couple of
tricked out Civics. You know what I'm talking about.....some sort of crazy splash paint job, tinted windows, spoiler on the back, coffee can muffler, some sort of crazy ass rims, performance stickers all over the windows. They look absolutely ridiculous, if you ask me. Today I was on the highway, probably doing about 80 mph. One of these kids in a Civic pulls up beside me and starts speeding up and slowing down, like he wants to race. Since I don't try to pretend that my life is a scene from the movie "The Fast and the Furious", I declined his offer to race. After a couple of minutes he got bored and sped off. Ok, the guy's car is faster than mine. Big deal. What I don't understand though is why these guys buy a cheap ass car like the Civic and then put $25K or $30K of after-market parts on it. What's the allure of having a junky ass car like the Civic? After all the customizations are paid for, they've spent about $40K......*on a Civic*. Why not take the money and buy a nicer car like a Supra or maybe an RX- 7, which with just a little work could easily be faster than a tricked out Civic. Plus a Supra or an RX-7 looks a lot nicer than a Civic. -- Magnificent Bastard Productions 2004 © http://www.magnificentbastardproductions.com |

I do not understand that phenomenon either other than the fact that I
bought a Civic because it is a good inexpensive car and with current gas prices does not bleed me at the gas pump......(yet).....I have still yet to go over $20 on a fillup and it lasts me all week and I drive 80 miles a day going to work and back. |
