Default dvd player in trunk

Does the dvd player in the trunk of the 04 Accord EX with navigation play
regular dvds? If not it seems to be a waste, also what is the PC ard slot
for?

Does the computer in your microwave let you browse the web? If not, it
seems to be a waste.

no it doesn't . there is hardware out there that will let it though.
the pcmcia slot is for updated maps. there's a way to write to it but
again special hardware.

My, aren't we in fifth grade this year. Just discovered that one, right?

What a waste of computer processing that's out there in the world.

If you go into developer mode, you can write logging data to the PCMCIA card.
You just need a PCMCIA flash reader/writer and some flash memory to go into it.
Also, you can boot off of it, so if you write a replacement OS for the car,
that would be a way to do it. Hold down "MAP", "MENU", and "CANCEL" (I think)
to get into this mode. There is lots of information about all this on the
web if you do a search.

I'm not computer savy enough to be writing OSs, but I like to know how and
why everything works. What should I search for to get info on this thing?

Most of it is in forums for the Acura TSX, but everything is the same for
the Accord. Just use Google search terms like "TSX", "Hacking", "Navigation",
etc.
