I have a 90 Accord, which is an automatic, suffering from the bucks and
stumbles, I have tried the ignition wires, and plugs, but had no luck. I was trying to save some time and would like to know if there are any common problems resulting in the spuders from 1700 to 2200 rpms. thanks, Ben |

The EGR ports for cylinders 4,3,2 are clogged causing all EGR gases to be
dumped into #1 cylinder which is causing your misfire. Drive with the hose for the EGR valve removed to confirm. If this is the case, the runners will have to be cleaned which involves either removing the intake, or drilling out the plugs above each runner and cleaning out the runners then installing new plugs into the holes of the manifold. Neither option is easy for a novice. We also replaced the spark-plug wires and even tried replacing the coil, all to no solution. It was finally discovered that there was an intermittent electrical short in the distributor. Replacing that seemed to finally solve the problem. Good luck. moi |

i finally found out what the problem is with the stumbles and jumps around
2000rpm's. after changing the plugs, wires, and distributor, the problem was a simple vacuum leak in the egr valve. a valve will cost around $100, but a little sealant around the rubber diaphram took care of the problem. if anyone is having problems just remove the vacuum hose from the side of the egr, and the stumbles should stop. ben |

Nice. Thanks for the tip. Mine is one year your junior, and it's not the
smoothest idler out there either. I already had the ports reamed...a leak would be a nice find.
