They could be if your car was hit at a certain direction and at a

Im not up on the Honda line.... and am helping an 18 yr old nephew car shop. Civic is one model he is considering. He will be on highway a lot..... hence question abt side air bags |

That type of accident usually occurs on road with lots of intersections. I would wait a couple of years when these become standard on all Hondas. In the mean time, I would send my nephew to a decent driving school. What they learn there they can take with them to any car they drive. ---------------- Alex |

For getting T-boned. You can check the with and without side airbag crash tests at http://www.nhtsa.gov . Also, http://www.iihs.org has some side crash tests also. The NHTSA tests simulate being T-boned by a car, while the IIHS tests simulate being T-boned by a pickup or SUV (where head protection side airbags are most helpful). -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Timothy J.
