Ok, just to be silly, I have to point out that you should not really have your hands at 10 and 2. It is widly accepted these days that the more effective way to drive is with 'underhand' steering with the hands at 4 and 9. In this position your hands never cross ala semi driving style. It is strange and totally different than the old 10 and 2 but it is safer. Think about what would happen if your air bag deployed with your arms crossed gripping the wheel Ouch!-D |

My hands were 10-2 when the airbag deployed and only suffered a small burn on my right forearm. 10-2 is safer than 4-9. ____________________________________ How to turn off 'Maintenance Required" light: 1. You're lucky you didn't give yourself a knuckle sandwich with your hands at
10-2 when the airbag deployed... your luck doesn't mean your are right. I'd say 3-9 is the best... > > 10-2 is safer than 4-9. > > > > > ____________________________________ > How to turn off 'Maintenance Required" light: > > 1. Hold trip/reset button on dash > 2. The two sides of this debate are never going to reconcile this, but to reply to your point here, I should think that illuminating the controls does NOT mean that Honda has to remove the tactile indicators. Nevertheless, it's my contention that all of us DO take our eyes off the road to glance at the buttons whenever we move our hands from the usual driving position to the buttons. I think that even people who depend on the tactile indicators, and I am one, do this rather than groping for them for a few seconds. It's just human nature. Illumination of the controls therefore can mean taking your eyes of the road for a briefer period, not a longer period. It does not defeat the purpose. It does make sense. Ron |

You may well be right about a safer position although I've never heard of that. However this has no relevance to the point I was making. One would still have to move hands from the driving position to the "button position." Ron |

I'd prefer they were lighted. I spend too much time trying to find the right one in the dark. It would take less than a second to glance down and find the right one. I take my eyes off the road for a second or so to adjust the climate control, so I don't think that's a big deal at all. Casey |
