hi, i have a 1999 civ, 52k miles. i noticed a small vibration at about
85-90mph which i havent notice before. the shaking isnt overt, but i can
feel it. what could this be? brakes? wheel alignment?

Check your tire balance first.

Could be aerodynamic unstability. My 92 shakes at hight speed, since I
removed the hood.
