One more time --- and I don't care what you looked at. I've paid the bills
for three teenagers and starting on the 4th. I can say based on actual
experience that you absolutely do not know what you are talking about.

Its one thing to make a reasoned argument about a topic. Its quite another
to start calling names when confronted with facts.

Btw. That is NOT how to turn off the maintenance light on an Acura TL.
(also from actual ownership experience.)

And you are now in the kill file because that is the designated place for
"such a thickheaded moron".

Maybe if you were smarter, you'd have saved a bundle and could afford nice cars
for them. But, they're stuck with an idiot of a father who can only afford
rusted out clunkers. Shame!

Facts? AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAAHA!

Just because you're too stupid to comparison shop and pay whatever doesn't mean
it's fact.

Well, in newer ones it's right.... you must have an old clunker.

How to turn off 'Maintenance Required" light:

1. Hold trip/reset button on dash
2. Turn key to "ON" or start engine
3. Hold button til light goes out

Neither does new, if you paid cash for it.

One problem I can see abt getting a Volvo is getting it
worked on.

We live in a very small rural town..... no Volvo
dealers for two hrs drive away.

Well, yeah, but most banks require it, so unless it's literally
CASH or a personal line of credit... 15-20K like that is
hard for most people to get. 5K is a snap, though.

ANY independant mechanic can work on these cars. As mechaniocaly
simple as a 1970's GM or Ford - plenty of space under the hood
as well for tools to get at things.

Check the phone book of the nearest city of over 10,000 people.
At least one mechanic will specialize in european cars. The
advantage is that it was just about THE most common european
car for decades. Since the 120, 140, and 240 shared a lot of parts
and technology, it basically represents a 20+ year run of the
same vehicle. It's the "VW Bug" of Volvos in this way.

My vote is for the safe, roomy and effective Ford Crown Victoria. Any
shop can work on these cars, the parts are reasonable enough
(especially when compared to my old Volvo)they are safe in a crash,
easy enough to drive, they stink in the snow but you don't care down
there and they get decent enough mileage for a larger car, maybe mid
20's EPA highway. The trunk is huge and 6 people can ride with the
bench seat and everyone gets a seatbelt.

I'd consider a full sized American car when my child is driving age, I
don't care if he think's it's not cool, I'm not here to be his friend,
just his dad.
