Is there a best way to remove the mirror mount from the winshield? I read
somewhere to heat it up (hair dryer) and then pull it off. Not sure how to clean the glue off either. I understand I have to be really careful. Thanks |

I would imagine you would unscrew the mirror from the mount and then use a
razor blade to remove the bracket CaptainKrunch "SpongeBob SquarePants Rules!" <al_langevinJAILSPAMMERS@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:4aXdc.6671$rg5.30065@attbi_s52... > Is there a best way to remove the mirror mount from the winshield? Thanks Cap'n.
People vary from using a razor blade to not using one since it may scratch the windshield glass. Some also suggest using a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the area and then the mount will come off easier. I guess hair dryers heat to 250 degrees which is much hotter than the inside of a car. As they say, do it right the first time. I just rather not buy a new winshield. If I wanted to experiment with heat, I might let the car sit in the full sun for a couple of hours before going to work with the razor blade (this depends a lot on where you live, of course). |
