I was quoted $250 for a 15000 mile service for 2003 Accord Coupe V6.
It seems a little high. Any thoughts?

What the manual says? can you make a list of what's requiered by your manula
and not by the book?

It is very high. Apart from oil and filter change, there are several
"inspection" items which shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour... unless they
find something wrong. Many dealers are clinging to an older, higher cost
maintenance schedule. Ask them to itemize what they intend to do before
the work and compare with your owner manual recommendations.

Those V6 Accords must be expensive to service! My 01 Prelude cost about $75
at 15k and right aroung $200 at 30k -- and on the Prelude that includes a
valve adjustment/check.

Take it somewhere else.

Oil change, balance the tires. Buy a Honda filter and drain plug gasket
from somewhere for a few bucks, and let the corner garage do the work.
$40 total.

Yeah, it's a little high. Hell, it's a LOT high.

15k miles service at home for my 99 Odyssey :
5 qt. Mobil 1 = $22.
1 Supertech oil filter = 2$.

Total $24.

My friend doesn't know much about car. He just did his S2K 30k miles
service for $500. I don't know why people spend so much on car
maintenance.

Many dealers add a bunch of items onto their "recommended" 15,000 mile
service above and beyond what Honda calls for in the owner's manual.

Find a dealer or good independent who will do what the book says and not
lard on a bunch of profit improvers!

Took my Honda filter and drain plug washer to the oil change place and
the damage was about $25.

Certainly not just what the manual says. I'd love to see what they
proposing to do for that amount of money.

Exactly. Add a tire rotation for good measure, and there's your $40.
