The proper way to do this is to go into your service schedule and see what needs to be done. Then make list of these items and take that list to your dealer and ask him how much to do these things. Many times the dealer will come up with their own "xx,000 mile service" which will involve unecessary, profit padding, services. -------------- Alex |

I've called another dealership and got quote for $180 (tax included).
Looks like the manual recommends a oil change, tire rotation, and a few inspection routines. Should I just forget the inspections and go for oil change + tire rotation? Is it worth the $180 or can I go lower? According to the manual, this is what needs to be done at 15K: 15,000 mi/24,000/1 yr Scheduled Maintenance Replace engine oil. Rotate tires (follow pattern on page 330). Replace engine oil filter. Inspect front and rear brakes. Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots. Inspect suspension components. Inspect drive shaft boots. Check parking brake adjustment. Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS). Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids and check for leaks. Inspect exhaust system. (See information on maintenance and emmisions warrenty, last column, page 271.) Inspect fuel lines and connections. (See information on maintenance and emmisions warrenty, last column, page 271.) Should I just forget the inspections and go > for oil change + tire rotation? Yes. Hondas don't really NEED those inspections. However, if you want them done, do them. But don't pay $140 for the inspections. The oil change & tire rotation is $40. The inspections shouldn't take more than half an hour. At $80/hour labor, that's another $40. $80 total. WORST CASE is an hour of inspections, and that's $120 total. So yes, I think $180 for that stuff is high. Your manual tells what should be performed. Find an independent shop and ask him to do it. Or, negotiate with your dealership. |
