Need to replace blown speaker on 91 Accord EX 4-dr, but it is an oddly sized
5" speaker. Will be checking out Alpine SPS-100A 4" to see if it could fit the factory bracket which has a diameter of 4-1/16". Anyone have success w/ factory bracket ? (BTW, Crutchfield suggested replacing with Accord LX bracket which can accept 6-1/2" speaker, but means more $.) Thanks. |

Once the ducted enclosures are removed, 6.5" speakers fit just fine. |

It seems there aren't any pre-drilled holes to fasten just the speaker itself, so would you know if the LX bracket is a simple ring, or if it's similar to the EX boxed bracket? If it's just a ring, then I could try making one out of MDF (heard that it's bad just to fasten the speaker to bare metal). I like the EX bracket because it isolates the speaker from any moisture that might get into the door panel. |

'91 is old enough that you should be able to find the EX brackets for
next to nothing at the junk yard.
