Just discovered my wife's car has a crack running from the passenger side
top edge, to what looks like a rock impact point.. then from there it's making a run for the passenger side edge of the windshield... go figure that the car that has the crack is the one with only liability insurance on it (it's '91 with almost 165k miles on it.. and a second car.. if it goes, it goes.. we'll move on) i've seen the DIY repair kits for these things.. any opinions on which are the best? and where to find them? -- -Chris http://www.ChrisGarcia.com - My Homepage http://www.Evangar.com - Affordable Web Hosting, and much more! |

Windshields are actually structural. Be safe and get it replaced

If you feel you can replace it with something similar for that price without a cracked windshield, do it. |

How to turn off 'Maintenance Required" light: 1. Hold trip/reset button on dash 2. Turn key to "ON" or start engine 3. Hold button til light goes out |

Ok, I stand corrected my car would (according to edmunds.com) go for $957 through a private party transaction.. KBB.com places it at $2085... Not bad considering I paid $3000 for it 3 years ago... I guess. Alls I know is it gets my wife from home to work which is something like 2 miles. -- -Chris http://www.ChrisGarcia.com - My Homepage http://www.Evangar.com - Affordable Web Hosting, and much more! |

Also, the DIY kits (to repair) are not recommended for such a long running
crack. I have replaced windshields in older cars myself... but these newer ones where there are glued in... that seems a bit more touchy. I wouldn't want it to come flying out or something! -- KWW '65 Beetle (Jenny the IOC) '64 Beetle (TBD the Blue Wave) "7th Gen'er" <wongw6@hotmail.com> wrote in message news Id1c.1591$JZ6.268041@news20.bellglobal.com.. .> Windshields are actually structural.
