Integra 91 gs. Came with V-rated tires xgtv Michelins. Eventually went
to Pirelli P4000'V' rated. Ran over some lumber a car car in front kicked my way and found a bubble in a front and rear Pirelli (3/4 tread left). Happy to find the front end still intact though. Well then I need four freaking new tires dammit. Can't find a 'V' rated tire in my size and don't want to change wheels (alloy). Found the Falken's ('H') for $37 + $7.50 shippping and talked my local shop into selling me them for $52 each, mounted. For some reason they gave me one free, charged me for the second, and the other 2 for the price of free replacement warranties $9.50 x 2. Probably had something to due with the circumstance of me finding the second bubble while they were putting on the 2 new front tires. I had no such warranties on the Pirellis though all that tread was probably worth something. I guess since I buy all my tires there they gave me a break. Discount tire. I love 'em but they keep pushing Yokohama 420's on everyone. Seems to be made especially for them so you can't find any info. I believe they're really Yoko H4's. Now you know. Cheers |

Cheers When I was looking a few months back for my '99 Integra, the Falkens looked quite a good buy for an all-season but my tire shop doesn't carry them and couldn't get them. I ended up with Dunlop SP5000s - amazing in the rain and really quite good in snow but I hear wear is bad... we'll see. If you missed the 2nd half life of the P4000, count yourself lucky - a really miserable experience IMO. They got so noisy I was sure had a major transmission problem developing on my '92 Integra. Rgds, George Macdonald "Just because they're paranoid doesn't mean you're not psychotic" - Who, me?? |

These Falkens are supposedly rated tops by Consumer Reports, though I haven't read the review. I have them on the front at the moment and am waiting for the the second set to arrive. They feel fine. One owner mentioned that they stick so well they feel like a rudder stuck amidship! More force than he liked to use to turn though. We'll see. They have a couple of circumferential grooves that help in the rain. I notice no difference yet between the Pirellis and these. I guess one usually notices a difference going from bald tires to anything new. The Pirellis were still full of tread. They were the only V-rated tire left in my size when i bought them last year. Now the 'V's are discontinued. Cheers George. |
