I have finally sold my white 2003 Accord pseudo-EX yesterday. My
fellow newsgroup contributors will recall that I had purchased a 2003 LX and, soon afterwards, transformed this car into an EX because I did not want the sunroof. This unusual Accord EX had pretty much all of the upgrades found in that trim level, including the 16" 5-spoke OEM rims and larger tires, the body-colored side garnishes, and the EX interior wood trim on the console and doors. It also had the outside temperature gauge, day/night mirror, the mudguards and door edge guards, the trunk tray and EX-V6 trunk liner, and tan rubber WeatherTech floor mats. These upgrades and accessories added about $2000 to the price of the LX. So it was a pretty reasonable deal that, although the car was one year old and has 11K well-cared-for miles, I sold it for the same "before taxes" price that I originally purchased it brand-new from the dealership 12 months ago. That is, in itself, an excellent deal, because the depreciation on this car seemed to apply to the upgrades/accessories themselves while the car's depreciation was relatively small. The buyer was a friend who appreciated all of the upgrades and detailed service documentation I kept on the car (it was a private sale)! The service records show that I visited the dealership seven times before the first 5K oil change to have the EX upgrades installed! This past holiday season, I delivered a big box of fresh Florida oranges and grapefruit to everyone at the dealership, because I felt in the holiday spirit myself and didn't want to forget my extended family there! Since I need the additional protection of side and curtain airbags, I was so pleased with the 03 that I am now driving a white 04 EX-L. Paul |

When your friend realizes he got screwed, he'll beat u up.
How to turn off 'Maintenance Required" light: 1. Hold trip/reset button on dash 2. Turn key to "ON" or start engine 3. Hold button til light goes out |

Because it has all of the EX upgrades, it is technically an EX without the sunroof, and a unique Honda trim level all by itself. Paul |

It could be more accurately described as a Paul trim level, than a Honda trim level <g>. -- Brian www.accesswave.ca/~orion |

Technically it is a DX as all real EX models have sunroofs and came from the factory as an EX trim level. When your friend goes to his insurance company, the VIN will identify this as an LX and his coverage for loss will be based on that. Seems more in the category of deceptive than unique. |

I did say that my friend appreciated all of the upgrades to the car, and he also knows that this car is an LX model. So, fraud does not apply in this case -- I made it perfectly clear during the sale that this Accord was, in fact, an LX model with EX upgrades. Paul |
