There is a switch in the wiper motor that will be closed any time the
wipers are not in the home position. If this switch is stuck open, or if there is an open circuit in the wiring to it you will get the symptoms you describe. The wire to the switch terminal on the wiper motor is Blu/Wht on my '94 Civic. Don't know if they retained the same colors for the '98. I have the test procedure for the wiper motor in my '94. If you are interested, let me know your e-mail address and I'll send you a scan. With a meter connected to chassis and the ground wire of the wiper moter, try twisting the motor around to see if the resistance on the meter goes high. On our (stinking) Volvo, the ground was provided by a copper flat spring, which fatigued and stopped grounding the motor. Honda would probably use surgical stainless steel, or a wire that would handle flexion..... 'Curly' ===================== |
